Courchevel 1850 · The festive weeks

Christmas and New Year in Courchevel.

The two most requested weeks of the winter, and the first to go.

Many families come back to Courchevel 1850 for the same festive week every year, and the finest chalets for Christmas and New Year are often spoken for long before winter. If you are thinking of the festive season, the earlier we talk, the more choice you will have.

When to book

As early as you can. There is no reason to wait for November: tell me your dates now and I will tell you honestly what is still possible, and which chalets are worth holding.

The dates this winter

French school holidays run from Saturday 19 December 2026 to Monday 4 January 2027. Christmas Day falls on a Friday and New Year's Eve on a Thursday. Most families choose either the Christmas week or the New Year week; some stay for both.

A festive week, prepared

The tree dressed before you arrive, Christmas Eve dinner cooked in the chalet by a private chef, presents hidden away until the evening, lunch on a sunny terrace on the 25th, and a plan for New Year's Eve, whether you want a quiet dinner or the liveliest room in the resort. I book early what fills up first: chefs, instructors and tables.

Orthodox Christmas

Many families stay on into January for Orthodox Christmas on 7 January. Those days are just as sought after, and I prepare them with the same care.

Questions

Can I still find a chalet for Christmas in November?

Sometimes, but the choice will be narrower. Ask anyway: I know which chalets are still free.

When does the ski season open?

Courchevel plans to open on 4 December 2026 and close on 18 April 2027, so both festive weeks fall well inside the season.

Tell me your festive dates.

I answer myself, usually within the hour, with a short selection of chalets for your dates.
